Blue Hour Lighting designs and installs low-voltage landscape lighting and outdoor audio systems across Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, and Greenwich, Connecticut. Based in upstate New York, we work with residential, commercial, and HOA properties from the first on-site visit through the finished installation. Every residential project begins with a property visit and a detailed lighting plan for the homeowner to approve.

Our Landscape Lighting & Outdoor Audio Services

Our Lighting Installation Process, Stage by Stage

Shaped by the property’s outdoor lighting needs, every landscape lighting project follows the same sequence of stages, from the first property visit to the final adjustment of each fixture on site.

01

The Property Visit

Blue Hour Lighting visits the property with the homeowner, noting how the outdoor space is used after dark, which entrances and paths need attention, and which architectural and landscape features should stand out. This consultation is free for residential properties.

02

Your Lighting Plan & Written Estimate

Following the visit, a lighting plan is drawn over a detailed diagram of the home, along with a written estimate. The plan lays out every fixture location and aiming direction, fixture type and wattage, transformer placement, cable paths, and the number of lighting zones the design calls for.

03

Approval & Agreement

Purchasing or installation does not begin until the plan and the estimate are approved. Once the scope is approved and the agreement is signed, fixtures are ordered, and an installation date is scheduled.

04

Installation

Fixture locations, equipment, and zones are checked against the approved plan before work begins. Low-voltage cable is laid in narrow trenches, routed around irrigation, planting beds, and root zones. Each fixture is then set in place according to the plan, matching the location and aiming direction specified.

05

Final Adjustment

Once every fixture is in its position, the team fine-tunes each one, adjusting angles and beam direction to control glare and keep light spill down.

Frequently Asked Questions About Landscape Lighting

Blue Hour Lighting’s landscape lighting services include a carefully designed plan, appropriately specified equipment, well-planned wire routes, reliable outdoor connections, and fixture placement that considers architecture, planting, circulation, and glare. The system can also improve visibility at steps, grade changes, and other outdoor areas used after dark, providing another layer of safety and security.
The system operates at approximately 12 volts beyond the transformer, so the fixtures, cable, and connections are low-voltage components. Where a new GFCI-protected outlet or switch is needed for the transformer, Blue Hour Lighting handles that work as part of the project.

Blue Hour Lighting installs professional-grade LED fixtures from Kichler, CAST Lighting, FX Luminaire, Brilliance LED, Auroralight, Unique Lighting Systems, and Infinity Lighting. The lighting plan determines which fixture goes where. Blue Hour Lighting is a Gold Level Kichler LightPro contractor and a Sonance authorized dealer and installer.

Yes, existing landscape lighting systems are serviced and repaired, including systems installed by other companies. The same on-site visit applies, and the typical problems in an older system are improper wire size, poor connections, overloaded circuits, and transformers. Lamps are replaced as necessary.
Every property requires a different scope of work based on the homeowner’s needs and the layout of the property. The estimate is shaped by how much of the property is lit, fixture count and placement, transformer capacity, wire run length, material grade, trenching conditions, and the number of independently controlled zones. For a home, a free on-site consultation provides the information needed to develop an accurate estimate.
