A Recent Chappaqua Estate Lighting and Audio Project
For this Chappaqua estate, the landscape lighting and a Sonance outdoor audio system were planned and installed as one project. Blue Hour Lighting designs and installs both for homes in Chappaqua and across Westchester County.
Lighting an Estate
On an estate like this one, the lighting plan usually covers the house, the trees, the driveway, and the walkways. Spotlights pick out details on the house, and path lights mark the way in for guests after dark. Lights placed high in the mature trees can cast a soft glow on the lawn and beds below.
Long Cable Runs on a Larger Property
On a larger property, many fixtures are a long way from the nearest transformer. Voltage drops as current travels through cable over that distance. Transformer placement, wire gauge, and circuit layout are planned so each fixture, near or far, gets the voltage it needs.
Lighting & Sound on One Plan
Planning the lighting and the sound system at the same time lets both share cable routes, so ground can be broken once for the whole project. Fixture locations and speaker positions appear on the same plan, and both systems are reviewed and approved together.
Sound Worked Into the Planting Beds
Sonance landscape speakers are placed in planting beds and other discreet spots, so music reaches guests across a backyard or pool area without the hardware showing. Each outdoor sound system is sized to its property, from a single patio to a full Chappaqua estate.
Where the Satellites & the Buried Subwoofer Go
For many projects, the satellite speakers are spaced approximately 10 to 30 feet apart along areas used for entertaining. The subwoofer is installed below grade, typically with only a vent cap visible. Spreading the speakers out, each at a moderate level, keeps the music even across the yard and limits how far it carries.

Review & Approval
Scope is approved and the agreement is signed. Fixtures are then ordered and an installation date is scheduled.
Professional Installation
The crew lays the lighting cable and speaker wire, then places the fixtures and speakers.
Final Fixture Adjustment
Every fixture is adjusted during the installation.
